Stardew Valley version 1.6 is here, and with it comes the Meadowlands Farm. A livestock-oriented update with some cool new features. While Stardew Valley has built a bit of a reputation over the years for bringing in challenging maps, the Meadowlands Farms aims to change the approach by focusing on raising animals instead of growing cops.

The Meadowlands update wants you to become the best livestock farmer, as it provides the perfect location and conditions for chickens, cows, and pigs. This version aims to bring something different to the routine updates and it succeeds. So today, we’re going to go over the new Stardew Valley Meadowland farm and how it works.

The Meadowlands Map

Eric Barone, commonly known as ConcernedApe - the game’s designer, originally wanted the 1.6 update to be small and have very slight changes. However, changes in plans have completely changed up the bizarre patch notes. A change celebrated by many of those who are fans of the livestock side of the game

In this version, instead of the usual Turnip seeds, you’re gifted 15 Hay, 1 Small Coop, 2 Chickens and some special new Blue Grass. As the game encourages livestock it provides you with a moveable coop saving you 4,000g, 300 wood, and 100 stone in resources.

When taking a look at the map the first thought that comes to mind is the overlack lack of farming space, as the farm’s left side has two intersecting rivers that block the other patches of land. However, the “chewy blue grass that animals love” as the game describes it and the provided resources make up for it. Players can also fish in the rivers for various new types of Jelly.

The new Blue Grass is also an excellent addition that any serious livestock farmer would want to get their hands on. Be sure to learn everything about the Blue Grass. The Meadowlands Farm is unique as it can organically grow this sought-after resource.

Other events, festivals and updates in Version 1.6

The version also brings new events such as:

  • The Desert Festival - a three-day event in spring which can be accessed after the bus is repaired.
  • Two mini fishing festivals: Annual Trout Derby and SquidFest.
  • A new environmental "event" in summer.

Some other interesting updates, such as a mastery system, accessed via a new area, which grants powerful perks and items and the ability to keep multiple pets.
