Looking for speculation on the Star Wars Outlaws release date? We've got you covered. What is being described as the first truly open-world Star Wars game looks downright incredible, and in this article, we’re going to be diving into all the information and details that have been revealed so far.

Star Wars Outlaws will be a single-player, third-person action-adventure game. Set in an expansive open world, this highly anticipated release combines elements of stealth and open combat, plus vehicle battles, space battles, and a branching dialogue system.

So, strap into your X-Wing or TIE Fighter, ready your hyperdrive, and get ready to explore a galaxy far, far away. Here’s everything you need to know about Star Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlaws information

Star Wars Outlaws is set in between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players will step into the shoes of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess and her Merqaal companion Nix—voiced by Humberly González and long-term Star Wars voice actor Dee Bradley Baker—as they attempt to pull off “one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen”.

I, personally, was hoping for a game set in the High Republic, as that era still hasn't been explored much other than in books and comics. Though setting it in the classic era does mean there's a chance that a few familiar faces may turn up—a Max Rebo Band Easter Egg, perhaps? A quest involving Salacious B. Crumb? One can only dream.

Players can anticipate a vastly expanded universe, far surpassing the scale of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's substantial hub areas. While the precise number of planets available for exploration by our protagonists, Kay and Nix, remains a mystery, it is evident that these celestial bodies will be sprawling landscapes. In the gameplay trailer, we catch a glimpse of Kay deftly manoeuvring a speeder bike, employing it as her escape vehicle from a gang of bandits, before reaching her ship and escaping into space.

What sets this moment apart is the seamless transition from planetary travel to interstellar flight, achieved without the interruption of any apparent loading screen. This feature not only enhances the overall immersion but also ensures a truly uninterrupted and fluid gaming experience. This is a departure from the Star Wars Jedi series, with Star Wars Outlaws allowing players to navigate their ships throughout the galaxy.

As a third-person shooter with a strong emphasis on stealth, players have the choice to either engage in loud confrontations or opt for the approach of evasion and avoidance. The game incorporates elements such as cover mechanics, stealth takedowns, and climbing, providing a dynamic and immersive gameplay experience.

During the gameplay trailer, Kay selects a dialogue option that incurs the wrath of a corrupt Empire officer, instantly making her a wanted fugitive. Although the frequency of these conversational choices remains uncertain, their potential impact on the game's narrative and outcomes adds an intriguing layer of player agency to Outlaws’ experience.

The wanted system seems similar to that in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemptions games. If Star Wars Outlaws turns out to be Red Dead in space, a lot of people are gonna be very happy. Come on Ubisoft, let us be space cowboys.

Star Wars Outlaws release date speculation

We don’t have much information on Star Wars Outlaws' release date, other than it’s coming sometime in 2024, bar any unfortunate delays. It’ll be released on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.
