Does Resident Evil 4 remake have multiplayer?

Does Resident Evil 4 remake have multiplayer?

Resident Evil 4 remake is single-player only, just like the original game. You can't play with your friends, unfortunately. Since the remake sticks to the original game design, it doesn't have much potential for a multiplayer mode anyway.

Of course, you may remember that there are some parts in the original game where Leon has companions. These's the famous last stand with Luis, and the episodes where you have to protect Ashley. Also, in the game, you'll be able to encounter Ada Wong, and even play Ashley at certain points.

Even though you are able to cooperate with various characters in the original game, it is still quite hard to add the co-op mode to the remake. The Ashley gameplay is fun, as it requires you to run away from your enemies rather than fight them head-on. However, it’s tough to make that a balanced co-op experience.

On top of that, co-op and multiplayer ruin the horror atmosphere. It’s really hard to scare someone who has a friend nearby. So, Resident Evil games with co-op modes are fun to play, but they can hardly be called survival horrors.

Of course, we could see some form of co-op in DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake. We know the beloved Mercenaries mode is returning, so adding a co-op DLC where you battle with friends could be a great solution.
