The new extraction-based formula that Modern Warfare 3 has implemented in the zombies mode definitely has its drawbacks. Still, whichever way you look at it, it's still Call of Duty zombies, so it's still pretty fun. And what keeps each run from getting less and less fun are features like the mystery box.

Mystery boxes add a sense of randomness and excitement to each one of your trips through zombie-infested Urzikstan, so knowing how to get to one is important if you don't want to burn out on the game mode. So, here's our guide on how you can get to Modern Warfare 3 zombies' mystery box locations.

What are mystery boxes in Modern Warfare 3 zombies?

Mystery boxes are long wooden crates with question marks on them that you can open to get yourself one random weapon from a list of pretty low to high-end weapons in Modern Warfare 3 zombies. This makes it so that a mystery box can bag you anything from a regular knife to the ever-elusive ray gun.

Do keep in mind that each time you open a mystery box, you'll have to spend 950 Essence. Still, it's a small price to pay for the potential of getting yourself some of the coolest weapons in the game.

Modern Warfare 3 zombies mystery box locations

Mystery boxes spawn at random locations in each of your zombies mode runs. Luckily, in any of these runs, you can just open your mini-map and look for the "Mystery Box" icon, a crate with a question mark on it, in your nearby vicinity. There are going to be quite a few mystery boxes spread across the whole map, so you'll most likely find one near you at any given time.

Otherwise, you also have the option of identifying the waypoint to a mystery box in the game itself. Look to the sky for a blue beam of light and head towards it to find a mystery box. Keep in mind that this waypoint doesn't show from long distances, so in order to see it, you'll need to be somewhat close to a box.
