Our Modern Warfare 3 Countdown mission walkthrough is particularly useful if you're struggling to get past the level on the highest difficulty.

Modern Warfare 3 fans continue to load into the single-player thanks to campaign early access and with several achievements and trophies to earn, completing the tasks in addition to the main objectives can prove a tricky task. Open Combat Missions have innovated some elements of the game, but Countdown follows a more linear structure.

Modern Warfare 3 Countdown mission walkthrough

After Trojan Horse uncovered Makarov's next evil deed, Task Force 141 headed into the channel tunnel in a bid to stop another catastrophe from taking place. Playing as Price, you and Soap work your way through the tunnels to throw a spanner in the works of the Konni Group once again.

Move through the tunnel

This is perhaps the easiest part of the mission. Move through the tunnel once the train has whizzed past and you'll find a small group of Konni Group soldiers building a sentry gun. As you've got a suppressed weapon, take them out one at a time to avoid any unwanted attention.

Advance to the crossover

With the tunnel now clear, head through the doorway and into another passageway lined with pipework. After a short distance, head up the staircase where you'll find the bodies of civilians.

Follow the yellow catwalk until you reach a door with hostages and enemies on the other side. Breach it and clear the room. Avoid shooting civilians at all costs. Next, open the garage door by hitting the green button on the left-hand side.

With the door open, a firefight between another wave of opposition begins. Be careful not to be hit by the high-speed trains as you move into the centre of the crossover. Once the first area is clear, keep moving through the tunnel where two juggernauts will be the next form of resistance you'll face. Always aim for the head to eliminate them as fast as possible.

Find Makarov

After the juggernauts are down, more Konni Group personnel are waiting for your arrival. This time around, they're guarding a bomb that's already started its countdown process. You and Soap must disarm it. Using the snake cam, look towards the right and you'll see the logo of a bear. Tell Soap what you see to get him to cut the wire and gain some extra time.

Just as it looks like the disarming process is going well, Soap is hit by a soldier's gunfire but the defuse continues. Keep operating the camera and search for the number at the bottom left-hand corner. Tell Soap it's a nine.

As Soap prepares to cut the red wire, Makarov appears, shooting Soap in the head and killing him.

Gaz continues the defuse. Cut the red wire on the count of three to stop it from detonating. The tunnel is safe, but Task Force 141 has lost one of its own.
