There are few things that can change a game quite like controller settings. Whether it’s the speed at which you’re looking around, or the button layout for the actions, having the right setup is paramount to being able to enjoy yourself the most in Fortnite. This guide will go through the best Fortnite controller settings for the best possible experience

Luckily, accessing the controller menus is an easier process than ever before. The average player can now alter even the smallest of options, all the way up to controller bindings and accessibility features. Fortunately, we'll run through all of those in this guide!

Here are the best Fortnite controller settings

Movement

These settings ensure that every bit of movement is intentional, which is important when you want to improve your gameplay. Moments like accidentally opening doors to the enemy, or cancelling reloads can cause an untimely squad wipe, so you must be careful.

  • Toggle Sprint: Off
  • Sprint By Default: On
  • Sprint Cancels Reloading: Off
  • Auto Open Doors: Off

Combat

These combat settings are mainly about customising the hot bar, which is something that becomes increasingly important the longer you play the game. The fast your gameplay becomes, the more you need to rely on knowing exactly what goes where!

  • Hold to Swap Pickup: Off
  • Toggle Targeting: Off
  • Mark Danger when Targeting: On
  • Auto Pick Up Weapons: Off
  • Preferred Item Slots: Personal Preference
  • Auto Sort Consumables to Right: Off

Building

The building in Fortnite can either be offensive, defensive, or environmental. These settings will make it quicker and easier to build exactly what you want in a faster fashion.

  • Reset Building Choice: Off
  • Disable Pre-Edit Option: Off
  • Turbo Building: On
  • Confirm Edit on Release: On

Tutorial

This will give you tips that you may have forgotten or didn't realise could apply to your situation. It's especially handy if you're trying to grind through quests.

  • Contextual Tips: On

Extra Game Options

This speeds up gameplay, by removing the need to hold down the button in order to interact with your environment.

  • Tap to Search/Interact: On

Input

Both Auto-Run and Build Immediately are critical when dealing with other players in the world. There will be little time to decide which approach to take, so these simply speed up the process.

  • Controller Auto-Run: On
  • Build Immediately (Builder Pro): On
  • Edit Hold Time: 0.100 Sec
  • Vibration: Off

Sensitivity

Once you've played the game for a couple of hours, you should be confident enough to turn up the sensitivity settings. This will take some adjusting to get used to, but will make for more precise aiming once you do.

  • Build Mode Sensitivity Multiplier: 1.6x
  • Edit Mode Sensitivity Multiplier: 1.7x
  • Use Advanced Options: On

Advanced Look Sensitivity

These will ensure that you remain accurate in your shooting and building, but fast enough that you will be able to cover yourself from all angles too.

  • Look Horizontal Speed: 50%
  • Look Vertical Speed: 60%
  • Turning Horizontal Boost: 0%
  • Turning Vertical Boost: 0%
  • Boost Ramp Time: 0%
  • Instant Boost When Building: On

Advanced ADS Sensitivity

These enhance the base sensitivity settings when aiming down the sight of your gun. As such, you can beat enemies to the jump in a one-on-one.

  • ADS Look Horizontal Speed: 17%
  • Look Vertical Speed: 17%
  • ADS Turning Horizontal Boost: 0%
  • Turning Vertical Boost: 0%
  • ADS Turning Boost Ramp Time: 0%

Controller Mapping

Arguably the best button mapping available in-game in the Builder Pro option. While it can take a bit of getting used to, it will elevate your gameplay and help you succeed in getting better.
