Wondering about the Notoriety System in Assassin's Creed Mirage? This core gameplay mechanic balances a stealth-focused approach and going in hot if you want frantic action, which means you're likely to get chased by guards, too.

Our guide discusses how this system works, as well as what you can expect when the threshold is maxed out. We also take note of ways to avoid hostiles in the game.

How does the notoriety system work in Assassin's Creed Mirage?

The Assassin's Creed Mirage notoriety system is represented by a bar in the lower-right portion of your screen. There are three thresholds or pips, which increase when the following incidents happen:

  • Attempting to pickpocket someone and failing the mini-game.
  • Being spotted by several guards in a restricted area.
  • Getting caught murdering an enemy in full view of others.

Basically, getting caught committing a crime will lead to an increase in notoriety. At higher tiers, guards will recognise you even if you're in civilian areas. Wanted Posters will also appear, and NPCs will call out to guards if you're close.

How to manage notoriety and enemy aggression in Assassin's Creed Mirage

Thankfully, there are a few ways to manage the Assassin's Creed Mirage Notoriety System, including a few tricks due to atrocious AI enemies:

  • You can remove Wanted Posters that you see, which will lower Notoriety by one tier or pip.
  • If you speak with a Muladi NPC, you can give them a Power Token to fully clear your Notoriety.
  • You can use Merchant Tokens to blend in with a group of traders that are moving around in restricted areas, or Scholar Tokens that can cause musicians to distract guards.
  • AI opponents are downright terrible, so it's easy to trick them. During instances when you're up against dozens of foes in a stronghold or base, you can simply hang on ledges or stay outside a doorway. Due to pathing issues, and because soldiers don't tend to leave a designated spot, you can wait for them to lose track of you. This will allow you to sneak back inside for a quick assassination.
