GTA Definitive Edition Removes Confederate Flag From Phil Cassidy's Shirt

Footage from Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition's recent trailer revealed a notable omission. The Confederate flag, previously seen on one Vice City character’s shirt, has now been removed.

As spotted by Kotaku, GTA's known arms dealer, Phil Cassidy, isn't wearing the same shirt we've seen in previous editions of Vice City, which prominently featured a Confederate Flag in the design. As a symbol for slavery in southern USA, that's often referred to as a ‘supremacist icon.

With Vice City's remastered edition, Cassidy still wears a black shirt, though the flag's being replaced with a skull symbol. Currently, it's unclear whether other depictions have been removed, but it's not the first time Rockstar's done this either. In GTA V, the flag was seen during The Lost trailer park and got replaced with an American flag but remained in areas like Mt. Chiliad.
