Although the Vanguard arsenal heavily features in the Warzone meta, those continuing to drop into the action are maintaining their love for Modern Warfare guns. The Season 4 Reloaded patch notes saw the likes of the Kilo 141 and the VLK Rogue skyrocket in popularity.

Known for its immense damage in close-quarters engagements and high mobility, the VLK Rogue can eliminate opponents with ease, but before it has a chance to shine, Raven Software has intervened.

The August 3 update introduced another dose of buffs and nerfs sparking another shift in the meta. The VLK Rogue’s maximum pellet damage received a significant nerf, much to the annoyance of players searching for the best Warzone guns.

Players aren't happy with the VLK Rogue nerf

Those getting to grips with the shotgun were quick to share their frustrations on the unnecessary nerf. Reddit user ‘JaisGucci’ claims the battle royale was growing stale before the VLK Rogue appeared in the meta. “I was getting super bored of the game and then the VLK became a thing again. Was having a BLAST with that shotgun these past couple days,” says the player.

Plenty of frustrated players agreed, claiming the Warzone developer wants a meta where assault rifles and submachine guns (SMG) are the only two categories that dominate matches. “I swear they only want us playing with two guns!” exclaims another commenter.

Eagle-eyed players noticed that the nerf impacts pellet damage by over 30% meaning the shotgun is worse than before the Season 4 Reloaded update. Redditor “Douglas1994” is also confused by the decision to nerf a shotgun that has a pick rate of 0.25% on Resurgence modes. “That’s like 1 in every 400 players using it and the devs have nerfed it to the point where it’s completely useless.”

With plenty of frustration within the Warzone community, there’s a chance Raven Software could revert the change to restore the VLK Rogue to its former glory. While we wait, be sure to check out our guide showcasing the best Warzone SMG to use.
