A shotgun that's dominated the Warzone meta throughout Season 6 has received a hefty nerf from Raven Software.

Much to the delight of Warzone players dropping into the action, the Lockwood 300 and the Super Shotgun from the recently released Doom bundle have had the ability to eliminate opponents with a single shot.

As part of the October 11 update from the developers, the shotguns have undergone a significant reduction in damage output which is bound to overhaul the close-range meta as attention starts to turn towards Season 6 Reloaded.

Instead of the nerf impacting the shotgun itself, the patch notes reveal the decrease in damage is coming from adjustments to the hugely popular Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment available for the Lockwood 300, a shotgun that's never really featured among the best guns and weapons in the battle royale.

So, why is this nerf hugely positive news for the current state of Warzone? The one-shot shotgun has ruined close-quarters combat thanks to its immense power and now it's received a nerf, it opens the door for players to use a range of SMGs and other shotguns in a bid to make an impact when up close and personal with the opposition.

As expected, players are thrilled with the change. One player says: "Shotgun is finally fixed. Easy wins." Another adds: "About a week late but I'll take it." While many are happy with the attachment nerf, others are having trouble applying the update to their PCs. One player reveals: "Stuck in an initialising loop at 0% Awesome!"

With players unable to test the shotgun nerf for themselves, there's every chance another update goes live in the not-too-distant future so PC players can return to action without any issues preventing them from playing casual or ranked matches.

We'll have to wait a few days to see the full effect of the nerf on the current meta but it's great to see Raven Software finally take action over an imbalance that's lasted far too long.
