The addition of the Warzone gulag separated Call of Duty's battle royale from the rest of the crowd, introducing a last-chance saloon for players to earn a second shot at victory.
With all eyes on the launch of Modern Warfare 3, players are dissecting all of the information announced at the Call of Duty Next event and how it will influence the future of Warzone on the all-new Urzikstan map.
During the event, Raven Software unveiled intel on the design of the gulag in addition to several changes that are bound to see players adjust their style of play in order to earn their redeployment.
Warzone Urzikstan gulag changes
During the live stream, Raven Software revealed the gulag would maintain a classic three-lane design after Modern Warfare 3 launches, in addition to a nighttime variation and a new way to win.
As revealed by the trailer, there's a chance players load into a pitch-black gulag, which requires night-vision goggles to spot an opponent. Alongside the darkness, the overtime flag situated in the middle of the gulag has been removed in favour of a zipline, allowing players to make a daring escape.
Judging by the comments, there are a few looking forward to experiencing the changes. One player says: "The new gulag is lit. Love the fact the tiebreaker is the zip line." On the other hand, some aren't convinced by the adjustments. Another adds: "Worst idea ever to have a random night vision gulag."
The Warzone developers are no strangers to adjusting various elements of the gulag, having introduced several new layouts in recent years. The addition of night-vision and a zip line is guaranteed to spice up the 1v1 duels.
But, we'll have to wait until the Urzikstan map drops before players can offer their final thoughts on the adjustments. If night-vision proves a hit, it opens the door to other variations of the gulag spicing up gameplay even further.
