The arrival of Al Mazrah in Warzone 2 has gone down a storm. Following the huge popularity of Verdansk was always going to prove a tricky task and after a few months of the cycle, the map remains popular with fans dropping into the action.
With Season Two on the horizon, attention is turning to the long-awaited return of the 1v1 gulag along with huge looting changes that are bound to bring plenty of improvements to the battle royale.
Warzone 2 players often look ahead to see where the game could be heading and with Treyarch rumoured to develop the next Call of Duty title in 2024, there are some that want a classic battle royale map to return.
Should the Blackout map return in Warzone 2?
Prior to the launch of Warzone, Blackout was Call of Duty’s first foray into the battle royale genre. Reddit user BatmanNewsChris believes the map containing numerous points of interest taken from the Black Ops map pool should arrive in Warzone 2. “The Blackout map was great and would probably translate well to the Warzone play style.”
As expected, other fans were quick to share their thoughts on the possibility of the Blackout map making a return. “I want some new s**t. Tired of the remakes,” says one player frustrated with the lack of new content.

Another takes things a step further and believes Treyarch should take charge of the next Warzone instalment. “Treyarch defined that perfect, fun, hyper-realistic vibe CoD should be. They made the franchise more unique.”
Treyarch hasn’t had a chance to create a new battle royale since the launch of Blackout. Would Warzone 3 act as the perfect opportunity to offer a new take on Call of Duty battle royale or would a drastic change of direction do more harm than good? Only time will tell.
