Some are passing the time until September by posting a new comment on one of its trailers every single day as part of a countdown to release, or watching one of Fallout London’s modders break down its animations.
Meanwhile, others have been examining the likes of June’s Starfield Direct in search of subtle details they might have originally missed, with one having just finished putting together a beefy document based on close to 200 hours spent researching its skill system.
Are you looking forward to trying out all of the skills on offer in Starfield?
The superfan in question, who goes by the username asd8dhd, has shared the results of this incredible effort via a post on the Starfield subreddit, declaring: “After almost 200 hours of research, here is the complete skill system used in Starfield.”
They’ve chosen to collate their findings into a 44-page document, which is designed to be a useful tool for those still planning out what their first character build might look like and features detailed breakdowns of each of the game’s five skill trees.
Asd8dhd has also included an explanation of how they believe the levelling system you’ll use to unlock each skill could work, with a “unique challenge” required to unlock new skill ranks potentially providing something new for players to master. Interestingly, they suggest that based on the number of ranks available, the game could have “a maximum level of 326”.
“I must have watched the direct in its entirety around 50-60 times, often at ultra-slow speeds in order to capture specific details and verify certain information,” revealed the fan in the Reddit thread about their project. “I have also watched other videos and interviews many times, and have typed up enough notes to last me about 100 years!”
While they state in the document: “I am fairly confident that this is as close as we will get to revealing what each skill does without having access to the final game,” Asd8dhd has acknowledged that a number of their conclusions are based on speculation.
As a result, they’ve chosen to highlight all of the details in the doc that are based on confirmed info, in addition to asking fellow fans to notify them if any of its contents are in need of revising.
You certainly can’t blame the fan for having potentially missed anything either, given that they also admitted in the thread: “Every time I close my eyes, all I can see are the skill trees. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but hey.”
