RGG Studio is Developing New Games Beyond Yakuza and Judgment


Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's quickly become one of SEGA's biggest development teams. Best known for handling Yakuza and Judgment, they've branched out elsewhere on several occasions and now, they've confirmed that they're working on new projects separate from these franchises.

Speaking to Famitsu (spotted by VGC, transcribed by ryokutya), RGG's studio director, Masayoshi Yokoyama, offered a brief comment on the matter. Without detailing specifics, he advised:

We’re also working on unannounced titles outside of [Yakuza and Judgment].

It's not too surprising to hear this, given RGG Studio's history. While Yakuza has been their primary output, they've also handled Binary Domain, Super Monkey Ball's recent remakes and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown.

Following last month's departure of founder Toshihiro Nagoshi and series-director/producer Daisuke Sato, RGG confirmed a Yakuza: Like A Dragon sequel is in development. However, following report of an image rights dispute with Takuya Kimura's agency, Judgment may be abruptly ending. Nothing's official on that front, though we'll keep you informed if we hear anything further.
