The latest trailer for Persona 3 Reload focuses on Yukari and that immediately got fans thinking about this remake’s biggest leak. It wasn’t just the character’s presence, as her special move animation in the end looked just like the leaked footage that made its way online this year.

Fans of the franchise will remember how a SEGA showcase video got leaked online earlier this year, confirming all the Reload rumours. Arguably, fans remember it too well, as it has become a talking point on social media after the new trailer hit.

Unsurprisingly, many fans are joking about how the footage ‘looks fake,’ since that’s essentially what happened at the time. Gamers were so cynical about these rumours and they didn’t want to be led astray, at least until the trailer was leaked before this year’s Xbox Showcase.

Memories of the leak aside, this new Persona 3 Reload trailer should make fans of the franchise very happy. New scenes of Yukari and the protagonist are shown alongside familiar events from the PS2 original, including a new anime cutscene for the beach scene.

Hilariously, the lead character doesn’t get an anime cutscene when he awakens to his Persona, but the beach scene does because of bikinis.

All of the new content we’ve seen is nice, especially the updated visuals, though it’s still a shame players can’t use the female protagonist. It’s also a shame that the FES content isn’t part of this remake, preventing it from being the definitive version of this JRPG. Knowing Atlus, the company might end up making these features paid DLC or even make a ‘Royal’ re-release with this content.
