The Call of Duty hype train has left the station as fans of the FPS series set their sights on the release of its next entry, which is widely expected to be titled Modern Warfare 3.

Following the recent appearance of several leaks, publisher Activision has already confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 items will transfer over to the new game, much to the excitement of fans, who have also had a sneak peek at a potential gun list.

In addition to leaks containing a wealth of other information surrounding the next instalment of the series, details that seemed to point towards an in-game reveal for it popped up. Now, Activision is seemingly teasing just such an event, which could take place within Warzone's Al Mazrah map.

Call of Duty confirms Modern Warfare 3 reveal?

On July 18, 2023, the official Call of Duty Twitter account announced that the first details regarding a "REDACTED Reveal Event" will be coming soon.

Alongside confirming the reveal is set to take place as part of the final season of the current Call of Duty cycle, season five, the post teases that further information on transferring content over from Modern Warfare 2 is also arriving soon.

Although the likelihood of it concerning another Modern Warfare title is extremely high, community members are already looking forward to the reveal and what it has in store. One fan replied to the Tweet: "I honestly can't wait for this! The original MW3 was a very cherished game for me. I have everything crossed for this."

While some are eagerly awaiting more intel, a few community members are seemingly threatening to boycott 2023's COD release. User MaydaX1 has taken to Reddit to share their frustrations regarding the potential sixth entry into the Modern Warfare series. They declare: "I won't touch another CoD with a ten-foot pole, if it (contains) the same crap as Modern Warfare 2 (2022)."

Of course, it's too early to tell whether Modern Warfare 3 will live up to the high bar set by its predecessors. Hopefully, this reveal will shed some light on what Sledgehammer Games has in store.
