Call of Duty confirms Modern Warfare 2 items to will transfer over into Modern Warfare 3

The Call of Duty series contains a wealth of Operators, skins, bundles, and weapons for players to master and unlock throughout each game cycle. In Modern Warfare 2, for example, the character list continues to expand with each new seasonal update.

Following the launch of Season 4 Reloaded, lots of potential information regardimg Modern Warfare 3 has been emerging, much to the excitement of fans. So far, leaks have claimed that a classic feature could be set to return, alongside some iconic multiplayer maps from the original Modern Warfare trilogy.

After one of these leaks claimed that the items accumulated by players in Modern Warfare 2 will transfer across to 2023's entry in the series, Call of Duty themselves have confirmed that weapons, cosmetic bundles, and Operators from the game will all be making the switch across to Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 2 items to transfer to Modern Warfare 3

Notable Call of Duty leaker BobNetworkUK first claimed Modern Warfare 2 Operators and weaponry would transfer to Modern Warfare 3 and, following an Activision DMCA takedown of the images, the official Call of Duty Twitter account has now confirmed that this will be the case.

Judging by the comments on the post, there are several community members that are thrilled with the idea of having the ability to use their bundles in another title. For instance, one player responded: "Yes! (I) love the potential of having more content crossover and continuity in future titles."

On the other hand, there are some still keeping their expectations in check, with one saying: "My expectations are very low about the new game but hopefully this game will be perfect."

The news also confirms a Bloomberg report from February which revealed that Modern Warfare 3 was originally planned to be a second year of support for Modern Warfare 2. Since then, the concept has morphed into a fully-fledged release, with Sledgehammer Games leading its development.

Schrier also suggests that some of the Modern Warfare 2 maps could appear in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.

When is the Modern Warfare 3 reveal?

With several leaks now doing the rounds, excitement surrounding the launch of Modern Warfare 3 is already building. The reveal for the next Call of Duty title is currently expected to take place in August, during Season 5.

Recent leaks claim that an in-game Modern Warfare 2 event could unveil Modern Warfare 3 to the world, along with a short trailer giving fans a first look at what Sledgehammer Games has in store.
