Modern Warfare 3 fans are optimistic that the game's multiplayer offering will receive more attention than previous releases.

Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games' latest Call of Duty title, will release with a huge gun list in addition to numerous movement changes designed to return the franchise to a fast-paced first-person shooter.

With attention already turning to what Season 1 has in store, players are confident Sledgehammer Games will provide improved support and attention to Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer throughout the entirety of its cycle instead of favouring other areas of the franchise such as Warzone.

Before the servers are switched on, user S7UXnet took to Reddit hoping more focus will be placed on multiplayer.

The player says: "Now with Raven handling Warzone and Sledgehammer focused on multiplayer, it looks like it'll be much better this time. Not to mention there won't be a MW4 to sell next year since we're getting Black Ops."

It appears the sense of optimism isn't shared by other players waiting to load into the action when the campaign early access window opens. Another adds: "No it won't. It'll get a few maps per season, all remakes of older ones and that's it."

Fortunately, not all of the maps for Modern Warfare 3's post-launch content will be remakes of old battlegrounds. During Call of Duty Next, Sledgehammer Games confirmed the cycle will contain at least 12 brand-new maps that will be released over the course of the seasonal updates.

On the other hand, there are a few who share a sense of optimism ahead of release. One player says: "I am very optimistic, the beta was fantastic and all the ratty players complaining that they can't camp anymore was music to my ears."

As with all Call of Duty titles, campers will always find ways to sit in a corner and prevent those who want to slide cancel from earning their next killstreak. Although there's some scepticism, the optimism heading into the Modern Warfare 3 cycle is certainly there. Let's hope Sledgehammer Games can keep the momentum rolling for the entire year.
