If you plan on slide cancelling using a controller in Modern Warfare 3, the process is very much the same as in older Modern Warfare titles. With that said, here's what you need to do:

• Start sprinting
• Before the Tactical Sprint ends, press the slide button
• Before you get close to the ground, press the slide button again
• Immediately after hitting slide, press the jump button
• Repeat to make the most of slide cancelling

After finishing the fourth step, your Operator will return to its normal stance and you'll have mastered the mechanic.

How to slide cancel on mouse and keyboard in Modern Warfare 3

Before mastering slide cancelling with a mouse and keyboard, make sure you're using the optimised settings before trying to dart around the map at breakneck speed. Just like the controller, slide cancelling on mouse and keyboard is straightforward but takes a bit of time to nail down. Here are the steps to follow:

• Double-tap Tactical Sprint. By default, this is left shift
• Press the Change Stance/Slide bind to start sliding then quickly hit it again to crouch and return to the standing position
• Repeat to keep slide cancelling during a match
