Modern Warfare 2 player finds real-life multiplayer map location

On several occasions, Call of Duty developers takes heavy inspiration from real-world locations when designing new maps for multiplayer action.

The most recognisable maps resembling a real location are Warzone’s Rebirth Island which is scarily similar to the notorious Alcatraz prison and London’s Piccadilly Circus. As attention turns toward the launch of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward continues to buck the trend by creating maps that share similarities to popular locations across the globe.

One fan visiting Los Angeles has found the location that looks almost identical to the Valderas Museum map set in Spain.

Valderas Museum's real-life location revealed

While wandering around the city of angels, Reddit user “2071photo” posts an image of the Getty Center which features several building designs that appear on the map that made its debut in September’s Modern Warfare 2 beta. “Accidentally spawned into Valderas Museum with a camera” jokes the user.

With over 1.9k upvotes on the post, players were quick to determine the exact location of the photo. The white building in the background is the circular building that connects numerous flanking routes to the centre of the map while the building on the right-hand side houses the C Domination flag.

While some commenters question how 2071photo managed to capture the photo of the camera and the surrounding area, one user takes aim at the loud footstep audio within Infinity Ward’s latest title. “There’s way more people than what I saw in MWII. The footsteps must be deafening.”

The Valderas Museum isn’t the only multiplayer map that resembles a real-life location. The Marina Bay Grand Prix map set in Singapore contains a wealth of similarities to the location of the Singapore Grand Prix but in recent weeks, Activision has removed all mentions of the map leaving many to wonder if Formula One has intervened.
