While some GTA players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to enjoy everything that Los Santos has to offer.

After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what it should include, and have given up on planning out your first playthrough, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online?

Currently, some players are trying to do just that by digging into the Los Santos Drug Wars DLC’s interesting characters and vehicles, but for one player who’s stuck to their usual routine of grinding the Cayo Perico heist, things seemingly aren’t going too well.

Have you encountered anything like this while playing GTA Online’s Cayo Perico heist?

Their apparent misfortune forms the subject of a thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user crazypupdog. They shared an image of a Cayo Perico minimap featuring a guard with a rather huge line-of-sight cone, suggesting that it might be linked to a supposed recent nerf of the heist with their caption: “I know they buffed the Cayo guards but Jesus Christ.”

A number of their fellow players reported having experienced similar issues, with user burrit0god saying: “(I) was wondering why I kept getting seen in places I never used to have problems,” and inDefyance declaring: “This happened to me a few times,” prompting crazypupdog to reveal that it had lost them around $400k.

User Klutzy_Detail9292 offered a possible explanation and solution for these newfound struggles, suggesting: “It’s not a bug. This is the new guards loading in and seeing the bodies of the old guards you killed. The trick is to kill the guards in places they won’t be seen. You can technically walk through the whole thing without being seen or killing a guard.”

Meanwhile, a fair few users offered slightly less plausible explanations for the guard’s incredible vision, with dmotion1 declaring: “El Rubio updated the CCTV cameras to Ring cameras. Powered by Alexa, er, Clifford,” and PSM_777 adding: “El Rubio finally employed Sauron for security.”

Regardless of whether your attempts to earn the cash required to buy all of the new vehicles added by the Los Santos Drug Wars DLC have been thwarted by the baddie from The Lord of the Rings, make sure to follow us for more GTA 6 and GTA Online updates.
