Fortnite has made the controversial decision to add age restrictions to cosmetics, meaning that specific characters can’t be used on certain Fortnite Creative maps. As a result, fans are now angry over not being able to use certain skins and want refunds from Epic Games for these new restrictions.

Cultured Vultures has confirmed that certain skins can’t be used in Creative Maps that are rated under 12. Since these created maps are meant for younger players, skins that skew towards a more mature audience can’t be used here, angering a number of gamers who paid for these cosmetics.

Some of the age-restricted characters include DC Rebirth Harley Quinn, Deadpool, Predator, Black Widow, the Demogorgon from Stranger Things, and most of the Resident Evil cast. These are only a couple of the cosmetics that can’t be used in certain Fortnite Creative maps.

Naturally, fans on the Fortnite subreddit are pretty angry about the move, as the cosmetics they paid real money for are now restricted from certain maps. Considering how a good number of these skins are years old, giving them age restrictions without much warning can be seen as a mean move.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, other subreddit users have confirmed that certain E-rated lobbies will restrict characters, weapon skins, loading screens, and pickaxes. Many have assumed that this is to make the E-rated maps friendlier for children, which is odd since this is a game where the main goal is to shoot each other.

On the bright side, Fortnite players can still use whatever skin they like in Battle Royale, assuming they go to lobbies with a T for Teen rating. Still, it is an incredibly odd move to try and make Fortnite friendlier for kids, when they’re restricting what brings them to this game in the first place.
