No matter whether they’ve been worked on for years or put together in a single day, Fallout 4 mods can add a lot to the experience on offer in The Commonwealth.

Some of these wonderful works focus on giving you the tools to add your own personal touch to your post-apocalyptic playthroughs. Meanwhile, others can provide fresh adventures for your Sole Survivor to get involved in, or new radio stations for them to listen to as they wander the wastes.

If you’ve been planning to delve back into The Commonwealth while you wait for Starfield or Fallout Nuevo Mexico to arrive, a newly released expansion to one of the game’s most popular quest mods is definitely worth adding to your load order.

Fancy taking on a DLC-sized Brotherhood of Steel-themed adventure next time you fire up Fallout 4?

The freshly released version of the mod in question is called ‘CSEP Presents Brothers in Arms Chapters 1 and 2 Return Of The Outcasts - Mini DLC Sized Quest Mod’ and is the work of the Commonwealth Story Expansion Project team.

Some of their previous projects have tasked the Sole Survivor with solving some crimes like a film noir-style detective and exploring a “kinda spooky” dungeon.

Their latest work adds a huge second chapter to the narrative of another of their popular works, a Brotherhood of Steel-centric quest mod dubbed ‘Brothers in Arms’, which was originally released in early 2022.

As you might have gleaned from the trailer above, the new additions carry on the story of the Lyons Loyalists, a group of Brotherhood personnel from the Capital Wasteland who still follow the beliefs of Fallout 3’s Elder Lyons.

This time, instead of going up against Elder Maxson’s less compassionate Brotherhood from the base game, the group will seemingly be dealing with some members of Fallout 3’s Brotherhood Outcasts, setting the stage for some killer firefights and philosophical debates.

Chapter 2 takes Brothers in Arms up to over four hours worth of content overall, including 25 fully-voiced quests with “multiple endings and consequences for your actions,” and close to 1.3k lines of dialogue, thanks to the team choosing to package it together with the original mod, which they’ve now sunset.

In order to get it working as intended, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got all of Fallout 4’s DLC and grab reg2k and Neanka’s ‘Extended Dialogue Interface’.

Regardless of whether you’re now trying to settle the Brotherhood’s issues without resorting to using your gatling laser, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods for Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas. You can also check out our latest mods of the month.
