Since they finally received the massive DLC announcement they’d all been craving, Elden Ring players have all been basking in the warm glow of knowing that work on the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is definitely underway.

While many of these hardcore tarnished have already started diving into the intense training regimen, both in the Colosseum and against regular bosses, they’ll need to complete in order to refresh and hone their skills in time for its arrival, others are trying to unearth clues as to what the DLC might involve.

Some of these FromSoft detectives have turned their findings into YouTube videos, which, if nothing else, showcase a bit of a contrast in methodologies.

Are you keen to find out what Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will involve?

Of these, YouTuber and well-known Elden Ring dataminer Sekiro Dubi took the more conventional approach, having elected to dive into some of the game’s cut content in order to try and glean some ideas of what Shadow of the Erdtree’s plot might involve.

As you can see in the video above, they mainly elected to explore the idea of Miquella having lived a life as St Trina, whom they’ve previously found a cut quest about, and to home in on a few in-game locations that might be candidates to serve as the DLC’s starting point.

Meanwhile, YouTuber Melaprilia opted for a rather unorthodox approach, electing to enter the Lands Between in live-action form in order to approach Miquella’s egg, point to a copy of the picture that accompanied the DLC’s announcement, and ask the eternally relevant question “This you?”

While this yielded no answer, as you can see in the video above, Melaprilia did seemingly end up being teleported to the location shown in the DLC image after being dragged inside the cocoon.

Thankfully, these shenanigans seemingly made up for their lack of information by providing some entertainment for users on the Elden Ring subreddit, a few of whom seemed to think the idea of the DLC starting with the player character being sicked into a giant egg wouldn’t be too out of character for FromSoft games.

Regardless of whether you’ve spent every spare moment since Shadow of the Erdtree was revealed dissecting different areas Elden Ring’s lore in order to try and predict what it will involve, make sure to follow us for plenty of guides to the expansion as soon as it arrives and coverage of some interesting Elden Ring streamers.
