The quality of the maps on offer in a Call of Duty title can often play a big role in determining how successful it is. For example, the all-out chaos of battlefields like Shipment and the more strategic offerings of maps like Raid and Standoff have proven so popular they've become iconic.

Leaks surrounding the series' next entry, Modern Warfare 3, continue to emerge ahead of its reveal event. So far, they've asserted that a popular movement mechanic is returning, in addition providing potential info on some of the Perks that could appear in multiplayer.

The latest leak making waves claims to have revealed all of the maps that'll be available to play straight away when Modern Warfare 3 launches in November.

Notable Call of Duty leaker el_bobberto has alleged in a Twitter post that every single launch map arriving with Modern Warfare 3 will be a remastered version of the launch maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2.

On one hand, the players that've reacted to the post so far are thrilled with the prospect of loading into Rust and Terminal once again. One said: "This is actually a W,", while another added: "I've been waiting for this for over a decade and I couldn't be happier with it."

On the other hand, the potential lack of original battlegrounds has sparked some concern, with one player arguing: "Great. No new original content. (I) might as well just go back and play the OG MW2. Saves me $70."

The idea of taking a trip down memory lane with 2009's Modern Warfare 2 maps is an exciting one. Although this leak doesn't mention any new designs, it's probably likely that Sledgehammer Games will release new arenas alongside any remastered offerings, in order to create a diverse pool of maps.

Of course, it's always important to take leaks with a pinch of salt until Activision and the developers are ready to share more official information. Considering rumours of remastered Modern Warfare 2 maps have been circulating since 2022's Call of Duty was released, it certainly seems best to take a wait and see approach.
