Fortnite Season 6 is here and fans are eager to play as much of the game as possible – but the servers will be down for a while.
This is something that usually happens when the game is about to have a massive update, and while Epic Games will usually announce this in advance, it's worth bearing in mind that these timings are often subject to change.
Why Are The Fortnite Servers Down?
When the Fortnite servers are down, that’s usually due to the developers updating the game or if a big bug has caused problems for players.
Since Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is out, we can assume that if the servers are down at any point in time, it’s due to pre-planned maintenance and maintenance not much else.
The Fortnite Status Twitter account has indicated that Fortnite Update v16.20 is scheduled to release on April 13.
As such, downtime will begin at approximately: 2 AM ET (06:00 UTC).
It's worth noting that downtime will be starting earlier than normal this week.
It's also possible that downtime will be of a longer duration than normal, with the patch released for download a few hours into downtime.
Stay Tuned for more details on April 13.
Fortnite is now available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
