Fortnite Has New "Preferred Item Slot" System: How It Works

Since Fortnite's inception, there has been a relatively simple system of ordering things. Even though it's been a few years, not much has changed, but they're finally updating it. It appears that Epic Games wants to alter how players use slot management.

After a long wait, Fortnite's much-anticipated "Preferred Item Slots" system will finally be released. Tomorrow, players will be able to use this new system. This is a godsend for those who have wanted a more diverse and better item management system.

Fortnite is introducing a preferred item slot system

Fortnite's "Preferred Item Slot" management system will launch on July 20, 2021, following the Fortnite 17.20 update, according to Epic Games and numerous leakers. Players should expect some hiccups like last season, but Fortnite can resolve them with a quick hotfix if they occur. However, the new inventory management system will help players enjoy their game more and introduce new gameplay mechanisms.

Using this system, players will be able to assign slots to each item, enabling effortless switching during battle. We will have to wait and see what happens if players pick up two weapons with the same type and only a single slot is assigned for that type.

Fortnite will no longer require players to drop items and pick them up to rearrange their loadouts or adjust item placements once the "Preferred Item Slot" management system is in place. This new approach allows players to place slots for items and weapons ahead of time, enabling quick arrangement on the fly.

Possibly, Epic Games will allow players to swap out lower-tier weapons for higher-quality weapons of the same type, or perhaps it will be possible to override the slot itself. No matter what happens, the community is excited about the update and is sharing their preferred loadouts with others. It will be interesting to see how Epic Games handles this one.
