This time-sensitive mode sends players on a jewel scavenger hunt!
With Chapter 2 Season 4 arriving next week, a number of limited-time modes have been updated recently and we're expecting those to arrive in the new season.
Meanwhile, this mode will give players a chance to get ready for what's ahead and potentially finish the final tiers of their battle pass.
Here's what we know about the Getaway LTM.
The next LTM is expected to go live on the 21st August 2020.
What Is The Getaway?
Four safes have been loaded into Supply Drops scattered around the island, each carrying a large jewel. Players will need to search for these jewels and collect them.
It's not that easy as players will need to fend off opponents from stealing the Jewel and make it to the Getaway Van with the jewel in hand.
Up to four teams can earn a Victory Royale.
Jewels can be found in special supply drop safes, located along the edge of the first storm circle.
Safes take a long time to open and once a jewel is claimed, it will be visible on the map to everyone for 30 seconds.
Four jewels are in play at all times, so if a player escapes with one or its lost in the storm, a new supply drop will bring a replacement.
Carrying a Jewel will give players health & shields over time, but also slow them down by 10%.
Four Getaway Vans are also placed on the map - three at the start and one later in the game. The vans are floating in the air, so jewel carriers must build up to interact with them.
This mode supports solos, duos and squads. The Getaway has featured in Fortnite before.
Here are some changes in the mode:
- 12 red "Pursuit" Supply Drops land at the very beginning of the match. These carry a variety of longer-range weapons and other items, and are the only way to obtain the new Grappler in this mode.
- Resource harvesting amounts increased by 50%.
- Only Rare weapons or higher will be found in this mode.
Rewards And Challenges
Rewards and challenges are yet to be confirmed for this mode.
