How to get the Crimson Axe for free in Fortnite

The Crimson Axe is an item within the Fort Knights set of Rare Fortnite Harvesting Tools. Players can purchase the pickaxe from the Item Shop for 800 V-Bucks when available (It's there now, get it). It has recently come to our attention that Fortnite players can obtain this pickaxe for free by exploiting a bug.

Players are required to equip the Frozen Axe first to receive the Crimson Axe. When you're ready, join a casual match, preferably solo. To get rid of the glitch, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Land at a POI with an abductor ship in-game.
  2. As soon as the abduction begins, players need to keep swinging their pickaxe until they gain access to the ship.
  3. Hold down your shoot button to continue shooting plasma after the mini-game begins.
  1. As soon as the timer expires and players are teleported back onto Fortnite Island, their Frozen Axe will become a Crimson Axe.

Although some claim that this glitch no longer works, it's hard to see how Epic Games would fix it over the Inflate-A-Bull glitch. Because this is not a permanent result, it is relatively harmless. It's just a nice thing to do.
