Call of Duty League 2021: Everything You Need To Know About The New Season


Competitive Call of Duty is back in action! The second season of the franchised Call of Duty League (CDL) is just around the corner, and after a lengthy off-season, 12 of the best teams in the world are ready to do battle in a bid to be crowned Call of Duty League champion.

The months between the conclusion of the 2020 and the beginning of the 2021 season saw many changes to various elements of Call of Duty’s highest tier of competition.

Roster moves, platform changes, and modifications to make the season as competitive as possible were made ahead of the opening week of competition.

With the first event of the season kicking off on February 11th, here’s absolutely everything that you need to know about the 2021 Call of Duty League season.

Like the 2020 season, there will be a total of 12 teams competing across a total of five regular-season stages.

Representing a number of cities from across the world, each team features a four-man roster of the best players from across the globe. The number of players on a single team was reduced from five to four during the off-season in order to make matches easier to watch for spectators.

Call of Duty League 2021 Format

The 2021 season has been split into five stages, with all matches being played on PC and players using controllers approved for competition by the CDL.

Each stage contains three weeks of competition that will see teams battle it out for CDL Points and seeding for the Majors that conclude each stage.

While no prize money is on the line during the Home Series events, each Major will see teams do battle for a share of $500,000 in prize money alongside an increased amount of CDL Points.

Teams will earn 10 CDL Points for every victory scored.

Major Prize Breakdown

  • 1st: $200,000 and 75 CDL Points
  • 2nd: $120,000 and 60 CDL Points
  • 3rd: $80,000 and 50 CDL Points
  • 4th: $40,000 and 40 CDL Points
  • 5th/6th: $20,000 and 30 CDL Points
  • 7th/8th: $10,000 and 20 CDL Points

After all five stages of regular-season competition, the top eight teams in the league will qualify for playoffs where millions of dollars will be on the line along with the chance to become the champion of the 2021 season.
