Elden Ring Larval Tear Locations

Elden Ring features a vast open world to explore. It's filled with enemies, bosses and secrets, with high value items being a lot trickier to find. Some of these items will boost your attack power, others will give you more healing strength, while some will give you hints to legendary treasures lost to time. You'll want to level up your character as you go, choosing your general build and putting points into the right attributes.

Even though it is recommended that you stick to a vague build style throughout your playthrough, it's possible to respec your character later down the line. To do this, you will need Larval Tears, rare items that can be offered to an NPC. Once you've done so, you will be able to redistribute your levels, taking on a completely different build type if you wish.

Being able to respec is a seriously useful feature, but one that requires a bit of work. You'll need to track down those Larval Tears, which are fairly well hidden, and not exactly plentiful. In this guide, we'll explain where you can easily get a Larval Tear, and what to do with it once you have one.

Elden Ring Larval Tears Location

The first place you can get your hands on a Larval Tear is in the Siofra River Well area. We've marked its location on the map below. You're looking for a lift that will take you deep underground. Once there, make your way to the main area, and pick up the map fragment.

You're looking for a merchant hidden within a ruined area of the Siofra River Well. We've marked it on the map below, but note that you will need to enter via wooden scaffolding nearby.

To get to this merchant, make your way to the location shown above. You will find a wooden scaffold with two ladders leading up. There are two enemies to fight through as you climb. Once you reach the top, look over the edge to drop to a lower platform. Follow this path around, and drop into the torchlit ruins. The merchant will be playing music that you can follow.

The merchant will sell you a Larval Tear for 3000 Runes. You can then take that to an NPC to respec your character.

How to Use Larval Tears

In order to use the Larval Tears as part of the Rebirth mechanic in Elden Ring, you will need to travel to the Raya Lucaria Academy area of the map. You'll do this as part of the main story, and at the end of that path you'll come up against Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.

Once you've defeated Rennala, you can revisit her at the Raya Lucaria Academy to access the Rebirth menu. From here, spend Larval Tears to reassign levels between attributes. One thing to note is that you cannot relevel an attribute to a value lower than what it started at when choosing your class. For example, if you chose Wretch, the lowest an attribute can go is 10, even after Rebirth.
