The International 10 is scheduled to kick off on 7th October at Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania. However, Team Aster from China has reported that all ten members of the team present at the venue have tested positive for Covid-19. This includes the five-man DOTA 2 roster of the team as well.

Let's dive in and take a look at what this means for The International 10.

What's in store for TI10

The DOTA 2 roster of Team Aster features,

  • Du "Monet" Peng
  • Liu "DD斩首" Yuhao
  • Liu "Xxs" Jing
  • Ye "Borax" Zhibiao
  • Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng

Apart from these five, additional members of Team Aster such as analysts and managers have also been affected by the virus.

Considering the fact that TI10 is scheduled to begin in less than a week, it remains to be seen what Valve thinks about the situation. Although the group stage of the tournament will be played from closed hotel rooms, it is not likely that the players will be in a mental condition to perform on a stage like this.

Having said that, Valve hasn't made any remarks regarding the situation yet. However, it seems certain that no matter what Valve decides, Team Aster might not be participating in this year's International.

This comes as a huge blow to the organization as TI is the biggest esports tournament in the world. Boasting a prize pool of over $40 million, the DOTA 2 Championships are known for creating legends.
