share to other networks share to twitter share to facebook

Season of the Chosen is here and brings back Umbral Engrams.

Unlike usual engrams, which have a random chance of revealing weapons or armour, Umbral Engrams can be "focused" to push them to one or the other, and even be nudged into certain types of weapons or armour.

Here's how to get Umbral Engrams, and how to focus them using the Prismatic Recaster – oh, and how to find the Prismatic Recaster, too.

Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen: How To Earn Umbral Engrams

While Umbral Engrams aren't as easy to earn as they were in seasons prior, they still drop in the same way.

Essentially playing any activity will give you a chance to earn Umbral Engrams, and you can also get them from killing enemies. Obviously, these are random drops, but it won't take too long to build up a collection.

Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen: How To Focus Umbral Engrams

Once you've got an Umbral Engram (or more than one), you'll need to head to the new H.E.L.M. social space.

It's in the Director's Tower section, so head there and interact with the Prismatic Recaster (check below for its location).

You'll be able to find a series of focusing quests on the Prismatic Recaster, and they're essentially bounties that will help you nudge your Engram into a weapon or armour category that you want.

Once you've completed that, you'll be able to open your Prismatic Recaster and pick up your new gear.

As the Season of the Chosen Progresses, you'll be able to earn more focusing quests as you level up your reputation.

Prismatic Recaster Location

Previously found in the Drifter's room in the Tower, the Prismatic Recaster can now be found in H.E.L.M – it's the massive, circular "table" that you just know Zavala will tell you off for putting your coffee mug on.
