Will there be a Crysis 2 Remaster?
Crysis fans have wondered about Crytek's plans for the future since Crysis Remastered released, and while plenty of rumors center around the as-yet-unannounced Crysis battle royale game reportedly called Crysis Next, Crytek recently hinted at a possible Crysis 2 Remastered.
The hint came in a short tweet that, despite its brevity, had unmistakable references to Crysis 2.
"They used to call me prophet," it reads.
It's the opening line from Crysis 2, and Crytek followed that tweet with one that just has the eyes emoji.
Unless the Crytek social media manager is just messing with people, it seems highly likely we'll be getting some new Crysis news soon, possibly at E3.
Crysis 2 Remastered Announcement
So far, we don't have a Crysis 2 Remastered announcement, even though the Crytek tweet makes it seem pretty likely we'll get one soon.
Crytek isn't one of the confirmed developers attending E3 2021.
However, between the Summer Game Fest and individual announcements, we could still get an announcement sometime this summer.
The tease is in keeping with previous rumors that said the entire Crysis trilogy is getting remastered.
Crysis 2 Remastered Release Date
Since we don't have an official announcement yet, we naturally don't have a release date yet either.
However, since Crysis Remastered released later in 2020, we'd be surprised if it came out any sooner than the end of 2021.
Crysis 2 Remastered Platforms
Crysis Remastered recently received a current-gen upgrade patch.
If Crytek has been developing Crysis Remastered 2 for a while now, it's likely the game will launch on last-gen platforms, possibly including Nintendo Switch, and then also receive a current-gen update.
