Warzone Season 3 Update Includes New Gulag

The Gulag acts as a last-chance saloon for Warzone players looking to drop back into the action after an early elimination. With Season 3 on the horizon, the community is preparing for Operation Monarch and the arrival of an all-new Gulag layout.

On April 21, Activision unveiled the full roadmap for the upcoming season of post-launch content.

Ranging from all-new weapons to major changes to the Caldera map, Season 3 will be the first season of the Pacific era that features a brand-new Gulag layout for players to master in order to redeploy.

In a blog post, Activison shared details on the new close-quarters battleground:

"This roughly symmetrical area is based in the belly of a ship moored just of the coast of Caldera, with identical hallways on the perimeter of an otherwise open space."

Symmetry often features in the design of the Gulag in Warzone, giving both competitors an equal chance of making it back into the ongoing match.

Players are no strangers to a change of Gulag. During the Black Ops Cold War era, the arena changed from scale replicas of Nuketown and Standoff before eventually returning the Verdansk showers in Season 6

With the appearance of Godzilla and Kong seemingly marking an end to Warzone's World War 2 era, the change of Gulag isn't surprising. The current layout contained a variety of bugs that turned the entire arena invisible, making it impossible for players to win.

If Warzone doesn't contain a Season 6, there's a high chance of the Hold Gulag layout remaining until the launch of Warzone 2 rumoured to take place in March 2023.
