While Season 2 of Warzone is nearing its conclusion, a wealth of new information has emerged thanks to a huge wave of leaks unveiling a range of information surrounding what is to come in upcoming seasons of the battle royale.
Alongside information surrounding the hotly-anticipated nuke event and the new set of vehicles that will be appearing in 1980s Verdansk, data miners have uncovered details on a brand-new, large-scale game mode expected to arrive in the not-too-distant future.
Warzone is no stranger to adding playlists that feature large-scale action. It has previously featured the King Slayer playlist which involved two teams of 50 players battling it out across the entirety of the map. The team that reached the kill target first was declared the winner.
Here's absolutely everything you need to know about Warzone's Payload mode.
Warzone Payload Game Mode
Details on Payload were discovered by notable Call of Duty leaker @ZestyCODLeaks.
The leaker also confirmed that files for Payload have existed within Warzone for a while and as part of the Season 2 Reloaded update, another set of files were added so the mode will be playable on the brand-new iteration of Verdansk set in the 1980s.
What Is Payload?
According to the leak, the mode will feature two huge teams attempting to push each other back into their respective zone. The likely method of victory will be the first team that manages to pin the other team in a specific area of the map.
Alongside the chaotic action, a variety of vehicle variants will also be available for players to gain an advantage over their opponents. One of the vehicles mentioned is the MG Cargo Truck that featured in the immensely popular Armored Royale LTM.
Payload Game Mode Release Date
Although no official information surrounding the release of Payload has been communicated by Activision or Raven Software, the fact that the developer is implementing files that will allow the mode to be played on the new map suggests that its release is not far away.
April 22nd is when the Verdansk will be taking a trip back to the 1980s, and there is every possibility that Payload will be one of the modes included in the featured playlists.
