Call of Duty Vanguard Campaign: Phoenix Mission Walkthrough

tandiAfter weeks of teasers, reveals, and speculation, Call of Duty Vanguard is out now, much to the excitement of the community. Alongside a new multiplayer and overhauled Zombies mode, players can also experience a brand-new single-player campaign exploring the origins of Task Force One (TF1), the first special forces unit.

The very first mission of the campaign is Phoenix, which sees you and the rest of TF1 attempt to stop Operation Phoenix, a heavily-guarded Nazi project that could be the spark that forms a Fourth Reich. Call of Duty Vanguard Phoenix Mission Walkthrough

Once Kingsley has explained the situation, the doors of a moving train are slung open to display wartorn Hamburg being drenched in heavy rainfall and explosions. Follow TF1 off the train and onto the enemy-occupied wagon on the opposite track. Once the others have taken care of the first soldiers, make your way along the train and approach the closed door.

Tip: Aim down sights and press Square/X to slowly open the door.

Work your way through the empty carriage to the other door. Open it to be greeted by Polina, eliminating a soldier clearly anticipating your arrival. Jump to the other train and make your way along to a lone enemy.

Crouch to silently sneak behind them and perform a takedown to kill them without alerting anyone to your location. Eliminate the second soldier inside the carriage and shoot one of the two keeping watch on the opposite train.

Once on the other train, a locked door will temporarily halt your progress so make your way along the narrow ledge on the left side of the train to find another way in. At the edge of the ledge, slide open the door. This will alert some unwanted attention so be prepared to despatch them quickly.

Despite your best efforts, the Axis is well aware of TF1's presence on the train and begin to open fire. Take out the soldier atop the train first then clean up the rest on the lower levels. Once they're taken care of, jump over to the other train where you'll be greeted by two trucks filled with troops attempting to put an end to the task at hand.

Tip: Shoot the truck drivers to destroy the trucks as fast as possible.

After dealing with a few more trucks and plenty more soldiers on both trains, you come across a half-track armed with a mounted machine gun. Climb aboard and unleash a barrage of gunfire onto the carriage in front to eliminate the opposition.

With the path cleared, exit the half-track and continue working towards the engine. Another half-track will attempt to stop you but Riggs quickly improvises with a tank on the other train to send it packing. As you approach the engine, follow Kingsley's order and shoot the driver. As the track splits, jump into the carriage where Kingsley will catch you.

Infiltrate U-Boat Base

Following a cutscene, the train pulls into the sub-base. where the next phase of the mission begins. As the first train pulls in, kill the two soldiers and the dog the turn your attention to the main group of opposition guarding the door. A sniper will lay down some fire from a nearby balcony so make sure to deal with it to avoid a trip to the last checkpoint.

The Axis will drop some smoke grenades to reduce your vision so use any remaining grenades to clear the path ahead. Once inside, head left up the small staircase and into the office where you and the rest of TF1 uncover intel on Operation Phoenix.

Secure The Intel

After spotting soldiers moving valuable cargo into a U-boat, Kingsley quickly formulates a plan to secure the intel. Head down the stairs and along the passageway, eliminating anything that moves. With the pathways clear, make your way on top of the U-boat and climb down the hatch.

Tip: When dealing with the soldiers on board, aim for the head to score a quick kill and to conserve your ammo supply.

Once Kingsley clears out the hatch with a well-placed grenade, head through the hatch to find the box. As the safecracker, you attempt to pick the lock but to no avail.

All of a sudden the sirens stop, and a stun grenade lands at your feet blinding you and triggering the final cutscene of the mission where you come face to face with a Nazi officer that has managed to capture Task Force One. After a brief conversation, the officer picks up a chair and begins to beat you down. The screen fades to black and another cutscene commences.

Achievements/Trophies

The following Achievements/Trophies can be earned during Phoenix:

• Ticket Please - Kill 15 enemies while standing atop a train car roof.
• Beware of Trains - Shoot a truck driver with a vehicle full of soldiers.
