The launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard is finally here and as players begin the process of pre-loading the game, Activision and Sledgehammer Games continue to reveal new information surrounding various areas of the game. Ahead of its November 5th release, Vanguard's multiplayer will launch with a total of seven game modes that will be very familiar to seasoned veterans of the franchise.
While it may not seem like many modes, they will all be playable on 16 maps using three kinds of Combat Pacing ranging from the classic 6v6 experience to all-out chaos featuring up to 48 players. Find a list of Vanguard's game modes in this guide.
Call of Duty Vanguard Multiplayer Game Modes
Out of the seven game modes available to play as soon as Vanguard launches, only one of them is brand-new. Despite this, there are enough modes to cater for those that prefer to play the objective and those that prefer to run and gun the opposition. Here's a full list of modes in Vanguard:
- Team Deathmatch
- Search & Destroy
- Kill Confirmed
- Control (New)
As part of the Season 1 update, Control has been added to Vanguard. Teams must attack and defend two objectives with a total of 30 lives to work with. The team that runs out of lives or manages to capture the objectives wins the round.

Will New Game Modes Be Added To Vanguard Multiplayer?
It's highly likely that Sledgehammer Games will be expanding on the seven modes throughout Vanguard's cycle. With Season 1 launching on December 2nd, there's every chance of new game modes arriving with the first major content drop for the game.
As soon as we find intel on any new game modes, we will update this list with the latest information. While we wait for the likes of Demolition and Headquarters to appear, check out our definitive sniper rifle tier list and the best quickscoping loadout to use.
