The upcoming Call of Duty title may see delays as a release date still hasn't been settled on.

Although there are other options for Activision, this will be the first time a Call of Duty game hasn't released in 15 years.

Vanguard Delayed?

The ex-Activision Ambassador on Twitter, @TheMW2Ghost, has stated there is still no certain release date for the upcoming Call of Duty title.

Named "Vanguard", the COD 2021 game may be seeing delays as we move closer to its expected release date.

From the information shared on Twitter, he states "a firm decision hasn’t been made about the release, and it is *possible* that we won’t see Vanguard this year".

So, what does Activision have planned this year instead of a new title?

Modern Warfare "Revamp"

@TheMW2Ghost goes onto state "There are talks of some kind of "revamp" for MW19, or a flow of more content for it".

This seems unlikely as Activision doesn't want to split their player base between two games (Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War). Fans have long speculated this is the same reason they never released two full-size warzone maps alongside each other.

There is a lot of unreleased content for Modern Warfare that has probably been saved for the release of Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2?

Other fans have speculated that more Modern Warfare content could mean the release of Modern Warfare 2. Perhaps they plan to add this content as an expansion in Modern Warfare 2019.

Infinity Ward left the campaign on a huge cliff-hanger to lead into a remake of Modern Warfare 2.

Unfortunately, nothing has been confirmed from Infinity Ward or Activision, so we'll have to wait for an official announcement from them.
