Battlefield 2042 has been delayed. According to an update from the development team at EA DICE, we won't see the latest edition of the game until a month after the initial release date.
Battlefield 2042's release delayed
Battlefield 2042 has been delayed until November 19th, matching reports that started emerging this morning. It's not a decision the dev team took lightly, of course. A statement was released on the game's social media platforms.
It looks like the pandemic has hit the development of Battlefield 2042 like it's hit most games recently. The statement, addressed from Oskar Gabrielson and the Battlefield 2042 team, had this to say:
"Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players."
The health and wellbeing of the dev team is clearly the most important thing here, so hopefully this delay is the right thing for everyone. Fans and devs alike want Battlefield 2042 to be the best game it can possibly be, so this delay should be the best way for that to happen.
We'll find out more about the Battlefield 2042 open beta soon too, according to the statement. In the meantime, it's all about staying abreast of the situation with Battlefield 2042 coverage, and we have you covered on that front. From Battlefield 2042 maps to all the game's weapons so far, we're staying on top of things.
