There’s plenty of choice when it comes to the arsenal at your disposal in Battlefield 6, with a variety of weapons each offering its own unique strengths and weaknesses for every scenario.
As players are now discovering, some guns perform better than others, with the M433, M4A1, and PW5A3 proving to be popular picks, in particular. However, there is another one that I have barely heard anyone talk about since the game’s release, and having recently used it, I think it could be an underrated gem that soon becomes a fan favorite.
The weapon I’m referring to here is the M417 A2 Carbine. I’ve just unlocked it after reaching rank level 32, and my word, it packs quite a punch. Supplying 33 Damage, the joint highest in its category, alongside a steady Rate of Fire, the M417 A2 destroys anyone in its path.

If I were to describe how the gun feels, it’s like firing an automatic DMR, only much faster. You can feel the power behind every shot, and more often than not, enemies are dead before they even have a chance to react. Despite being in the early stages of leveling it up, the M417 A2 is already relatively accurate, providing consistency and reliability in every gunfight. It also supplies nice all-around mobility, allowing you to be quick and nimble when necessary.
In terms of drawbacks, its 654 Rate of Fire and reduced 20-round magazine are noticeable flaws that can sometimes go against you in certain situations, but its high damage output more than makes up for it. Unlocking the 25-round mag will eventually help mitigate that area of concern, anyway.
Here is my current M417 A2 build if you fancy giving it a whirl in BF6:
- Double-Port Muzzle Brake
- Extended 16.5” Rifle Barrel
- Alloy Vertical Underbarrel
- 20Rnd Magazine
- Standard FMJ Ammo
- Magwell Flare Ergonomic
- SU-123 1.50X Sight
- 5 MW Red Laser

I appreciate that many players are finding weapon progression and leveling up in general fairly slow in Battlefield 6. I’ve been lucky enough to have sufficient time in between work to sit down and play the game for several hours. While it may seem like a drag at times, hitting level 32 and unlocking a gun like this does make it feel worthwhile.
The M417 A2 is one of the best in its class, and in my opinion, an overall standout from all of the weapons I’ve used so far. It doesn’t just feel like any other progression unlock, but more like a reward that will make a genuine difference.
