Silksong is finally here, and fans can’t play it. The hype was maybe too real as digital storefronts like Steam and even the Nintendo eShop have crashed while players tried to access them to get their hands on Team Cherry’s highly anticipated Hollow Knight follow-up.

At this point, you’re probably familiar with the story: 2017’s Hollow Knight was a massive success, lauded as one of the greatest games of all time, with Team Cherry announcing a DLC not too long after. That would eventually become Silksong, one of the most anticipated indies ever, finally launching this September 4 for every platform you can imagine.

Did Silksong Crash Steam?

Yes, Silksong made Steam crash. The reason? Prior to the game’s release, Team Cherry announced there would be no pre-orders for the game, meaning players would have to open Steam or their preferred storefront to get a copy on launch day.

Users via social media reported that they couldn’t access Steam when Silksong dropped. The platform would throw the “e502 l3” error, which happens when Steam servers get overloaded. Nintendo users also reported that the eShop simply couldn’t handle the volume of Silksong enthusiasts trying to get their hands on the game.

Even the Xbox digital store suffered some issues. Not surprising if we consider that the game is available via Game Pass. At one point, the game didn’t even show up in search results, as reported by The Verge’s Tom Warren.

Issues seem to be slowly resolving, so if you’re at work or missed the early release time, then you shouldn’t have any issues when you decide to hop into your preferred storefront to get your hands, finally, on Silksong.
