Playing Silent Hill f on Hard Puzzle difficulty? You’re likely running into some tricky challenges that feel much more complicated compared to the lower settings, and that’s expected.

Silent Hill has always been known for its clever, brain-teasing puzzles that require you to pay close attention to the environment and carefully read scattered notes.

In Silent Hill f, one particular puzzle can easily block your progress if you’re not observant enough. This happens during the Middle School section, where Hinako needs to find the back gate key so Shu and Rinko can cut through the campus. The big roadblock here is the Lunchbox puzzle. Let’s go through the steps and their solutions:

A note for the first layer.

The first sequence asks you to identify the fruits that make up a typical fruit tart cake. Look for the fruit icons in the lunchbox and ignore everything else. If you’re stuck, just use the pictures provided as your guide.

Second note.

After solving the fruit puzzle, you’ll open another layer of the lunchbox along with a note where Rinko daydreams about Shu. She mentions unfolding pages with their hearts and “writing blank pages,” which is your hint. The answer is books and notebooks.

Select all the notebook icons in the lunchbox and ignore the others. You can also refer to the pictures here for clarity.

Notes for the third layer.

Once that’s done, you’ll get another note where Rinko says, “Sakura’s in full bloom.” This is a straightforward clue. Select the icons that feature Sakura trees.

After completing this final step, the last layer of the lunchbox will open, and you’ll finally be able to leave Hinako and Rinko’s classroom. Just keep in mind that more puzzles are waiting for you in the middle school level, and the hallways are now crawling with eerie scarecrow monsters.
