It looks like a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime is reportedly in development after fans noticed a new web domain registered by Kadokawa Corporation.
A ResetEra forum user discovered the domain through a Japanese domain search website and found that “sekiro-anime.jp” is currently registered under Kadokawa Corporation.

This gives even more weight to the rumors that a Sekiro anime is on the way, rumors that originally surfaced in 2023 alongside speculation about a Ghost of Tsushima anime adaptation. With Ghost of Tsushima already confirmed with Kamikaze Douga producing as well as the live-action adaptation with John Wick director Chad Stahelski officially on board, the only thing left now is Sekiro.
According to the first post on ResetEra, the anime is said to be in development by a studio called Qzil.la, known for their work on the opening for Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Season 1.
The domain listing doesn’t reveal how many episodes the anime will have, but it was previously reported that it may feature a low episode count, possibly fewer than ten. That could be a good sign, as fewer episodes may allow for higher-quality animation and storytelling.

There’s plenty of speculation about what part of the Sekiro story the anime will cover. Personally, it might take a few creative liberties and explore events before Sekiro meets Genichiro and the fall of the Ashina clan. It could also offer a fresh perspective on his relationship with Kuro, the Divine Heir.
On the other hand, it might pull directly from the game’s more esoteric lore, perhaps focusing on the Mortal Blade, Senpou Temple’s pursuit of immortality, or even delve deeper into the game’s wild array of apes and monkeys.
The poster also speculated that with the web domain now active, an official announcement could be coming soon. With Gamescom running from August 20 to 24, we might hear something there, or FromSoftware could just casually drop the news on a random Tuesday, like they did with Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring.
