Resident Evil Requiem is just around the corner, and fans are giddy with anticipation as Capcom’s flagship Survival Horror makes its grand return after almost six years.

With excitement brewing each day, many are wondering if the company will release a playable demo, as it has with previous entries in the series.

Will Resident Evil Requiem Get a Demo?

As of the moment, Capcom has no plans to drop a public demo for Resident Evil Requiem, according to an interview with Stevivor. Producer Masato Kumazawa detailed that Resident Evil Requiem will not have a demo, unlike previous Resident Evil titles such as the R.P.D. Demo in Resident Evil 2 Remake and the Beginning Hour in Resident Evil 7.

Their reasoning is that the company is hard at work polishing the game, and they would rather spend the extra resources to make Requiem the best possible Resident Evil game in the market.

This statement confirms that Capcom’s 20-minute demo of Requiem during Gamescom 2025 is limited only to the event, at least for now.

Speculations About the Resident Evil Requiem Demo

If Producer Masato Kumazawa remains firm on the company’s decision, this makes Requiem the first modern Resident Evil game without a playable demo. However, Capcom has been known to mislead fans, particularly regarding Leon’s involvement in the game. It’s one of this year’s worst-kept secrets, as Capcom persistently denied Leon’s involvement in interviews until its big reveal at The Game Awards.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to eventually learn that Capcom lied about the absence of a public demo just to throw off fans, and we might just get one two weeks before the game’s launch.

If a demo is actually real, then we could get our hands on it on February 19 or 22, just a few days before Resident Evil Requiem’s launch on February 27, 2026. Keep in mind that this is purely speculation based on the release windows for previous Resident Evil demos, excluding 7’s Beginning Hour, which bewildered fans for half a year.

The speculated Resident Evil Requiem demo might be the same as the 20-minute Gamescom 2025 public showcase, where Grace tries to run away from the game’s new pursuer. Aside from players testing the new first and third-person options, a playable public demo could also serve as a benchmark for players who want to check if the game’s performance suits their standards.

Sadly, with no word from Capcom since Masato Kumazawa’s statement, we can only hope that they will change their mind in the coming weeks and finally give us a demo. We’ll keep this article updated if a public demo is announced before launch.
