Capcom’s Resident Evil series continues to surprise fans as they recently discovered a hidden level found inside Resident Evil 4 Remake’s files.
YouTuber “Thekempy” discovered that Capcom has hidden a secret level involving Ashley Graham in the game files. Dubbed as “Chapter 0,” it follows Ashley hours after her kidnapping by Osmund Saddler. The hidden chapter isn’t playable through any normal means. Tucked beneath the game files, the YouTuber attempted to restore this cut content and see how it would play out.
The video saw Ashley Graham making her way past a series of linear paths and running away from the Plaga-inflicted cultists.
This entire sequence was already revealed to us in 2022 when Capcom released the story trailer for Resident Evil 4: Remake. It was only a brief sequence, including a ritualistic murder by Saddler himself. It also includes a few snippets of Ashley in the village woods, where most of Chapter 0 takes place.
Resident Evil 4: Remake players can still find remnants of this cut content by heading to the southern area in the game. Players can see traces of the announcement trailer, including a dead body on a pedestal. Ashley’s path, however, can only be accessed in-game via free-camera mods.
Chapter 0 doesn’t reveal major points, but it’s an interesting piece of cut content that would have added extra flavor to the game. Fans would have loved to try this sequence in the game’s official release, as it recontextualizes Ashley’s character, bringing her more depth rather than just some ‘damsel in distress.’ Players would also witness firsthand how deranged these cultists are and how defenseless a regular person would be in the face of such horrors. If Capcom added it into he game, it would have been similar to Resident Evil 7’s Beginning Hour demo, which was about a group of Paranormal Hunters having the worst day of their lives.

The Ashley Graham sequence is likely Resident Evil 4 Remake’s mini-demo, just to show players how far they have come in terms of visual and performance in perhaps the best Resident Evil game out there. Capcom must have decided to completely scrap this level as it was “too linear” and rather focused on the much dynamic “Chainsaw Demo” where players can see the full extent of the remake with multiple zombie hordes, improved gameplay, and Leon’s return to form.
At least fans can rest easy knowing that Capcom did indeed remove a chapter from the game. Since its release, fans have wondered about Ashley’s abduction or why her playable sections are so limited.
