Now that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is making headlines, fans are curious about the franchise’s future. Most fans are waiting for MGS: Master Collection Vol. 2, which will hopefully have the PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 and an HD remaster of Peace Walker. While having those games would be amazing, there’s something else fans want to see: A complete version of Metal Gear Solid V.

Anyone familiar with MGSV knows the Phantom Pain of finishing the game and realizing how incomplete this experience was. Despite some solid gameplay that elevates this experience, a lot of fans are still disappointed that it was released in an incomplete state, story-wise. It’s not yet known if this fifth game will be in Master Collection Vol. 2, but fans would flock to it if that were the case.

Mission 51

Fans who played Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are still burned by the lack of a coherent conclusion, as numerous plot points were cut due to time constraints. Mission 51 was the biggest omission, as it would have finished the story with Eli and those orphans who stole Sahelanthropus from Mother Base. It was mentioned in the game’s bonus Blu-ray, and there’s even footage on YouTube, but this mission was never playable.

We imagine that finishing this mission isn’t a priority for Konami right now, given their current focus on remakes, but this is something many fans would appreciate. Just being able to see what Eli and his team of misfits would have done with this mech could satisfy Metal Gear fans. Obviously, it would be better if this were DLC for the base game, but it would be a great addition to Master Collection Vol. 2.

Finish the Story

Even if Metal Gear Solid V doesn’t end up in Master Collection Vol. 2, we implore Konami to consider finishing this story. It might not sound smart, but publishers have been updating older games to hype up newer entries. One major example of this is Ubisoft’s announcement of new Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC, all of which will be free.

It would also get a ton of goodwill from fans if they finish the story of Phantom Pain, even if fans already get the gist of what’s happening. Filling in those gaps would make this game feel more complete and could even change people's minds about it, in general. Most fans agree that the gameplay is good, but many feel its legacy is mixed due to the incomplete state it was released in.

Master Collection 2 doesn’t need a complete Metal Gear Solid V, as most fans are hoping to see Metal Gear Solid 4 free from its PS3 prison. Still, we can’t help but dream about the story this game deserved to have.
