Will the Free Assassin's Creed Mirage DLC Tease a New Game?

AC Mirage DLC teasing new game?

Ubisoft shocked fans everywhere when they announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is getting free DLC later this year. The company originally said that this was going to be a self-contained game, but it looks like plans have changed. With AC Shadows having just been released this year, seeing Ubisoft drop new content for an older game has us thinking: are they already teasing their next AC game?

Studios are realizing that they can use their older games to promote newer titles with these free updates. FPS fans just got a recent taste of this, as the controversial BF 2042 received a free Road to Battlefield 6 Battle Pass to hype up the newer entry. Gearbox Software is also all too familiar with this tactic, releasing Borderlands 2 content to hype up Borderlands 3.

With all this in mind, what does Ubisoft have planned for Assassin’s Creed Mirage? And could this free DLC pack become a pattern for the company moving forward?

The Yearly AC Release?

Everyone and their gaming mother knows that Ubisoft loves to release Assassin’s Creed games like burgers. There was a time when the company was pumping out one of these every year, before eventually slowing releases for the franchise so fans wouldn't get burnt out.

However, the company also teased how this series would be divided into two different releases: stealth-oriented adventures and open-world RPGs.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was the first release of this new strategy that mostly focused on stealth, choosing to be a more linear adventure. Since AC Shadows was the most recent RPG entry in the series, there’s a very good chance Ubisoft could be hyping up the next stealth entry through free Mirage DLC.

Could the DLC tease a new game for next year? We’ll have to wait and see.

Major Hexe Tease?

Ubisoft teased a new game in the series that’s currently going by Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, taking place during the Witch Trials of the Roman Empire. We’ve also seen images of the female protagonist of this game, which is appropriate given the themes, so excitement is pretty high, despite the lack of news.

Now that we’re suddenly getting free Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC, one has to wonder if Codename Hexe will be teased. Although the timelines might not match, this series hops around time periods a lot via the contrived Animus machine. There’s a very good chance they tease something new here, whether it’s Codename Hexe or something else entirely.

Regardless, fans are pretty happy that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is getting some love from Ubisoft. Basim is pretty well-liked by fans, so having more content with him is a good thing. We’re also curious about the improvements made, since they will be reflected in the base release.
