GTA 6's PC Version Reportedly Targeting Early 2027 Release

We are almost a month away from the release of GTA 6, probably the most anticipated game of the decade, and Rockstar is sticking with its usual release strategy by launching it on consoles first.

However, it appears PC users won't have to wait long to join the action. A new report from GamesBeat revealed that four anonymous sources familiar with the studio's plans suggest the game's PC version is targeting a Q1 2027 release, meaning it will arrive in the first three months of next year.

This will be a big departure from previous releases, given that GTA V's PC version took a year and seven months to release and Red Dead Redemption 2's PC version arrived a year after the original launch.

With all the rumors about Rockstar developing UGC tools for GTA 6 and with FiveM, the developers behind the official GTA V roleplay server, working under their roof. It wouldn't be a shock if the PC release is arriving sooner than expected, as the studio will likely want to take advantage of these upcoming features.

Of course, this early PC release will provide Rockstar with a chance to also implement other features that won't be available at launch, such as a full first-person mode. The game will already have first-person functionality at launch, but in a limited capacity.

It's unclear whether Online mode will arrive before the PC version, but it would make sense if this is one of the first things that gets added post-launch. After all, GTA V's and Red Dead Redemption 2's online modes were released roughly a month after the initial launch. This mode is what kept GTA V relevant for so many years, so Rockstar is definitely prioritizing it for their new game.

GTA 6 is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
