The long-rumored Black Ops 7 beta is finally official, and Activision has locked in early October for the test.

It’s the first big hands-on chance players will get before the full game launches this November.

Here’s a complete breakdown of dates, access requirements, platforms, and what you can expect when you jump in.

When Does the Black Ops 7 Beta Start?

The beta will roll out in two phases, with Early Access starting on October 2, 2025, at 10 AM PT and lasting three days.

The beta opens to all players on October 5 at 10 AM PT and closes on October 8 at 10 AM PT. For players in Asia, that means an overnight start: 1 AM in Manila, 2 AM in Tokyo and Seoul, and 3 AM in Sydney.

Nothing new for Call of Duty, but it does give early access players a short advantage before the public rollout.

How To Join Black Ops 7 Early Access Beta?

Getting into the Early Access period of the Black Ops 7 beta comes down to two main options.

Players who pre-order a digital copy are automatically set for Early Access, with no extra steps needed besides downloading the beta once it’s live.

On the other hand, if you pre-order a physical copy at a retailer, you’ll be given a code with your purchase.

That code must be redeemed through your Activision account on the official beta site, which then flags your account for Early Access once the beta begins.

The second route is through Xbox Game Pass, which has become a new way of gaining access to Call of Duty betas.

Specifically, those subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC are confirmed to qualify, with some listings also mentioning the Console plan.

Either way, having an active subscription during the beta period unlocks the same Early Access privileges as pre-ordering.

For anyone who doesn’t choose either of these paths, the Open Beta starting on October 5 will be free for all players on supported platforms.

The beta will be playable across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Battle.net, Steam, and Microsoft Store), with full cross-play enabled.

Pre-load dates haven’t been confirmed yet, but going by past COD betas, expect downloads to open a day or two before launch.

Do You Get Anything for Pre-Ordering?

Pre-ordering unlocks the Reznov SOG Operator skin immediately in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

Two additional Reznov-themed skins, Stalingrad and Memory, can be earned through elimination challenges, and all three will carry over to Black Ops 7 at launch.

While Call of Duty betas don’t always result in sweeping gameplay changes before release, they’re a solid chance to test servers, try new mechanics, and get an early feel for what’s coming.

The beta is slated just one week prior to Battlefield 6, a clash that’s already driving discussion about which shooter will come out on top.

However you plan to play it, the Black Ops 7 beta is shaping up as one of the standout previews of the year.
